EIS Weekly Update – 16 July 20

Welcome to your weekly EIS Bulletin!

We appreciate how busy your inbox can become, so EIS will only send out Support & News messages every Thursday.

If there is something critical that our customers need to know immediately, we will of course send a message straightaway –

that way you will know the EIS email needs urgent action.

Below we have summarised what is new this week… if you have any queries, please get in touch!

Release of the SIMS and Discover Summer 2020 Upgrade

We are planning to release the Summer 2020 upgrade files for SIMS and Discover to all schools on Friday 17 July 2020 by 16:00.

To assist schools in completing these upgrades the following notices are now available on our Support Portal.

SIMS Summer 2020 Release – Information Notice (20-E040)
SIMS Discover 2020 Release – Information Notice (20-E041)

Remote Access
It is important that any school using KLZ to access their SIMS database remotely via the Internet should upgrade their SIMS system as near as possible to the date that we will be updating our hosted servers otherwise users will not be able to access SIMS remotely. Therefore, if schools do not upgrade SIMS on their server on or around the date below, they will not be able to access SIMS remotely until the school SIMS is at the same version as the KLZ servers.  EIS will be updating this remote connection between 17:00 on Friday 17 July 2020 and 06:00 on Monday 20 July 2020.

SIMS Summer 2020 Upgrade for SIMS Hosting Customers

Following the release of the SIMS Summer 2020 upgrade – EIS SIMS Hosting customers should be aware that EIS will be upgrading the EIS Hosting Service between 17:00 on Friday 17th July and 06:00 on Monday 20th July 2020.

This means you will not be able to access the entire EIS Hosting Service during this time including, SIMS/ Discover or FMS and your Hosted files and documents.

The SIMS Discover Summer 2020 release will also be carried out during the same weekend to ensure the versions compatibility.

IMPORTANT NOTE: – Hosted schools will have to Import the latest version reports on Monday 20th July, there is Information Notice 18-E031 which can be followed in order to complete this. This process is no longer completed as part of the EIS Hosting Service upgrade.

If you have any queries or questions, please contact EIS on 0300 065 8888 or email ictservicedesk@cantium.solutions

SIMS Summer Upgrade 7.194 – Exams Results Reporting

As part of the Summer upgrade (expected release Fri 17 July) of SIMS, Capita have added two Report routines to the exams related items within Sims.net under SIMS | Tools | Examinations (Candidate Statement of Results and Certification Broadsheet). Please find below the link to two videos provided by Capita showing these reports.

Please note both the original reports are still available within the Exams Organiser module and in particular that currently only the original ‘Candidate Statement of Results’ report has the option to ‘upload to the DMS’ to link the report directly to each student’s record.

As part of our continual improvement cycle we ask schools to complete a survey at the end of the year so that we can reflect on where we as an MIS team can make improvements.

Please could you click on the link and complete the survey? It would be very much appreciated and should take less than 5 minutes.
