Cantium ServiceNow School Portal

The School Portal keeps you up to date with all the latest Cantium news for schools and will bring lots of benefits to your school, including:

 

  • Chat: Enables you to chat with one of our Service Desk analysts to quickly resolve your issue
  • Log Requests: New e-forms will allow you to quickly log incidents and requests directly to the team that can help
  • My Tickets: Allows viewing of all your tickets and to provide updates directly from the portal
  • Outages: Can find up to date information on any issues with the systems your school uses
  • Knowledge Base: Browse and search for knowledge articles relating to ICT, HR and Payroll, for services your school purchases from Cantium
  • News: Displays our most recent news articles and lets you view all previous news articles
  • Feedback: Enables you to provide feedback or make suggestions about the service you receive from Cantium

 

The School Portal is currently being piloted by several schools who are providing feedback to allow us to make any suggested improvements for September.

We shall be in touch with you by email when the portal is being made available to your school.

Once you are able to access the portal, to avoid delays with your call, you can fill out one of the e-forms available. This will mean your call will go directly to the relevant team. Our advice therefore is that, once you have access to the new portal, please make use of these e-forms each time you log a request.

 

As we start to enable schools to use the new Schools ICT Portal you will notice a change in the way that we reference Information Notices on our current Support Portal.  Previously schools would have seen Information Notices referred to as 20-E001 for example. This reference will now be changing to come into line with the new portal where Information Notices will be known as Knowledge Base Articles (KBAs)and take the format of ‘KB000001’.

Please also note where documents reference any related articles/documents there will be two links listed – the first link will be to the KB article on the new Cantium ServiceNow Schools Portal Knowledge Base and the second will be to the same article but on the KLZ Support Portal.

 

 

 

 

 

Release of the FMS Summer 2020 Upgrade

We are planning to release the FMS Summer 2020 upgrade files to all schools on Friday 18 September 2020 by 16:00.

To assist schools in completing these upgrades the following Notice will be made available on our support portals by 18 September 2020:

 

Remote Access

It is important that any school using KLZ to access their FMS database remotely via the Internet should upgrade their FMS system as near as possible to the date that we will be updating our hosted servers otherwise users will not be able to access SIMS remotely. Therefore, if schools do not upgrade SIMS on their server on or around the date below, they will not be able to access FMS remotely until the school SIMS is at the same version as the KLZ servers.  EIS will be updating this remote connection between 17:00 on Friday 18 September 2020 and 06:00 on Monday 21 September 2020.

 

FMS Summer 2020 Upgrade for SIMS Hosting Customers

Following the release of the FMS Summer 2020 upgrade – EIS SIMS Hosting customers should be aware that EIS will be upgrading the EIS Hosting Service between 17:00 on Friday 18th September and 06:00 on Monday 21 September 2020.

This means you will not be able to access the entire EIS Hosting Service during this time including, SIMS/ Discover or FMS and your Hosted files and documents.

SIMS School Census Autumn 2020

Further information for the upcoming school census on Thursday 1 October can be found either on the School Census page on the KLZ Support Portal OR, for schools that have been migrated from KLZ, through the new ServiceNow School Portal, see KBKB0012331 – SIMS School Census HOME PAGE

 

Capita release updated Filesets periodically that contain the latest DfE Validation files and the DfE Summary Report. Sometimes several versions of the Fileset are issued during the census preparation period therefore it is important that schools check the KLZ Support Portal or the ServiceNow Schools Portal on a regular basis for updates and, in particular, just before running Create and Validate for the last time.

 

The latest Fileset, 1602, has just been released.

Before importing Fileset 1602 please check that you have upgraded to SIMS version 7.194. The upgrade has already been completed for EIS hosted schools, but the fileset import will still be required.

For any issues regarding the school census please check on the relevant support portal for guidance, particularly consulting Known Issues and FAQs.

 

 

School Workforce Census (Thursday 5 November 20)

The School Workforce Census Button on the Portal has been updated to include the School Workforce Census Guide 2020 Guide for Schools Including Academies Within a Multi Academy Trust

 

 

 

 

Producing the 2020 School Workforce Census in SIMS – Free Webinar

If you have a support contract with EIS, why not register for our free webinar. This is being held in two parts, on Thursday 24 and Monday 28 September – both sessions run from 10am – 12pm.

The first session will cover data requirements, changes since the 2019 collection and pre-census checks.

The second session will cover running a Workforce Census from start to finish and resolving errors and queries.

SIMS and Power BI Basic Webinar – How to Import and View Reports

If you have a support contract with EIS, why not register for our free webinar – How to use SIMS & Power BI together by importing data from SIMS into Power BI. This is being held on Thursday 8 October 20 – 10am to 11am.

We will run through the import process and also look at an example dashboard in Power BI to highlight what Power BI can do with your SIMS data. We will also look over how you can view specific types of data available in your reports as well.

This programme is in response to feedback from schools that they would like remote sessions for training for a number of varied reasons. We have therefore put this comprehensive package together so that staff can access the webinars from home, school or offices as long as they are connected to the internet.

Hot Off The Press!

 

EIS Remote Backup

Did you know we offer various tiers of Remote Backup options for schools to backup both user data & critical IT data, as well as SIMS, Discover and FMS databases? This is run through a simple client installed on your main server, which once installed will run quietly in the background, ensuring no disruption to users. You can choose to back up either just your SIMS server, your curriculum server or both!

 

By backing up your school data through the EIS Remote Backup you’re ensuring your data is stored somewhere off site from the school, so in the case of any damage or loss of access to the school, you know your data is safe.
