EIS Weekly Update – 25 June 20

Welcome to your weekly EIS Bulletin!

We appreciate how busy your inbox can become, so EIS will only send out Support & News messages every Thursday.

If there is something critical that our customers need to know immediately, we will of course send a message straightaway –

that way you will know the EIS email needs urgent action.

Below we have summarised what is new this week… if you have any queries, please get in touch!

New SIMS Attendance Code Functionality

Patch 25870 has now been released on SOLUS to all schools except EIS hosted schools. Please see Information Notice (20-E038) on the Support Portal for more details. The patch provides the following benefits:

  1. Makes temporary attendance code 7 (Illness due to COVID-19) available
  2. Makes temporary attendance code 8 (Self isolating due to COVID-19) available
  3. Makes temporary attendance code 9 (Shielding due to COVID-19) available
  4. Makes temporary attendance code Y (Unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances) available; previously, it could only be generated from menu route Focus | Attendance/Lesson Monitor | Exceptional Circumstances.
  5. This functionality has been designed to assist schools in meeting DfE/SAGE requirements for reporting on attendance during the Covid-19 outbreak. All settings should submit daily attendance figures using the educational setting status form by midday.

Reminder: Schools with a SUS contract will also need to apply patch 25870 if they require the new functionality.

Release of the FMS Spring 2020 Upgrade files – Latest Information

Due to the Coronavirus situation we previously held back the release of the Spring 2020 FMS upgrade.  Now that there has been a wider opening of schools, we are planning to release the FMS upgrade files to all schools on SOLUS3 by noon on Friday 3 July 2020.

Schools Hosted by EIS

EIS hosted schools will also be upgraded over the weekend of 4 and 5 July 2020 therefore EIS hosting will not be available to hosted or KLZ remote apps users from Friday 3 July 17:00 to Monday 6 July 06:00

Remote Access

It is important that any school using KLZ to access their FMS database remotely via the Internet should upgrade their FMS system as near as possible to the date that we will be updating our hosted servers otherwise users will not be able to access FMS remotely. Therefore, if schools do not upgrade FMS on their server on or around the date below, they will not be able to access FMS remotely until the school FMS is at the same version as the KLZ servers.  EIS will be updating this remote connection between 17:00 on Friday 3 July 2020 and 06:00 on Monday 6 July 2020.

To assist schools in completing this FMS upgrade please refer to the following notice:
